Absolute Manage Will Extend Cross-Platform BYOD and Cisco Identity Service Engine Support
Vancouver, Canada: May 22, 2014 – Absolute® Software Corporation (TSX: ABT), the industry standard for persistent endpoint security and management solutions for computers, laptops, tablets and smartphones, today announced they will be first to market with full BYOD support for Mac and Windows computers. Now Absolute Manage® customers can automate BYOD polices for employee-owned computers, along with tablets and smartphones - all from a single console.
Absolute Manage 6.5 will provide enrollment workflows as well as remote and automated security protocols for corporate and employee-owned devices, including smartphones, tablets and laptops. Employee productivity will be fully supported regardless of the device they may own, providing workers with a simple enrollment process so they can conveniently and securely access corporate resources.
Absolute Software continues to innovate, providing first-to-market features that benefit end users and IT technicians. This progressive approach allows IT administrators to remotely engage with all devices, regardless of form-factor or device ownership. This is important since it supports an increasing trend within the workforce of employees adding computers to their list of BYO devices. A Forrester Research, Inc. study found that 31 percent of enterprise information workers reported their primary work laptop as a personally-owned device.*
The integration between Absolute Manage and Cisco’s Identity Service Engine (ISE) provides an increased level of network security. If a computer or mobile device attempts to access the network, its compliance status is automatically checked against company policy. This ensures all devices on the network are configured appropriately, including Absolute Manage enrollment. If a device is not already enrolled, ISE can redirect it to complete enrollment before allowing access.
With this release, Absolute Manage will support Samsung KNOX, a containerization solution native to Samsung’s hardware and Android OS. Using KNOX, IT can create a secure workspace on Samsung devices that is managed like a separate device. All data and apps within the container are completely separated from personal data and apps. Samsung KNOX allows employees to seamlessly move from personal to corporate information and apps while allowing IT to apply completely separate policies to the device’s personal space and workspace.
“Many of our customers are receiving requests from employees to bring their personally-owned devices to work. But corporate IT doesn’t want to use multiple consoles and products to secure this range of form factors. With this release, Absolute Manage will be the only solution on the market to offer full BYOD capabilities for all devices. Our customers can count on us to provide them with the support they need to manage all the devices that enter their network,” said Errol Olsen, Interim CEO at Absolute Software. “The release of Absolute Manage 6.5 will support the Absolute Unified IT vision, allowing IT to manage all employee-owned devices from a single console.”
