1. It all starts here

If you are a new Absolute customer, you first need to setup your account, activate the agent and verify your devices. Access your Absolute account at signin.absolute.com. Enter your email address and Absolute password. Don’t have a password? Request one now.

2. Let’s start securing your devices

To start, you will need to ensure that your ThinkPad devices are enrolled into Absolute. Follow the steps in these instructional videos to learn how to enroll devices and manage their supervisor passwords.

You can deploy the Absolute agent using your existing systems management tools or via policies/scripts. Find out how in our Agent Install guides.

NOTE:

  • It may take up to 24 hours for your devices to be enrolled and viewable within the Absolute Console.
  • If the Absolute agent is already activated at the factory, your ThinkPad devices are ready to go.

3. Manage Supervisor Password

Once you have added your devices, select “Assets” on the left-hand pane of the console to confirm that your devices are enrolled. From there, select the specific ThinkPad devices, and choose the “Manage Supervisor Password” device action.

Through the following Device Eligibility prompt, confirm that ThinkShield RSVP is supported on the devices you selected.

NOTE:

After you have confirmed your devices’ eligibility, select to either “Create Supervisor Password” on devices that do not yet have a password, or “Update Supervisor Password” on devices that do, and follow the subsequent instructions.

Note that “Update Supervisor Password” also includes the option of removing a previously created password. A reboot is required to execute any of the three options.

4. Confirm your Supervisor Password Request

Through the “History” option on the left-hand pane, you can confirm the status of your Supervisor Password request through the “Event” column. An event will be created each time a Supervisor Password management request is made, completed or failed on each of your selected devices.

5. Create Device Groups and Access Hardware Inventory

In addition to managing the Supervisor Passwords on your ThinkPad Devices, your ThinkShield Remote Supervisor Password subscription also provides you the ability to group your devices as well as view Hardware Inventory information across your devices.

To create Device Groups, click on “Assets” on the left hand pane of the console and select the “Device Groups” tab.

You can view Hardware Inventory information about your devices through the built in “Devices” tab. Customize the information shown on the report by clicking on the “Settings” icon and selecting “Edit Columns”.
