Absolute Software Offers Endpoint Security for Microsoft’s Surface Pro 3

Patented Absolute Persistence Technology Embedded in Microsoft’s Surface Pro 3 Available Through Authorized Surface Resellers in US and Canada Beginning This Month

Vancouver, Canada: July 2, 2014Absolute® Software Corporation (TSX: ABT), the industry standard for persistent endpoint security and management solutions for computers, laptops, tablets and smartphones, today announced it will embed its persistence platform in Microsoft’s Surface Pro 3 tablet.

Under the terms of the agreement, Absolute persistence technology will be embedded in Surface Pro 3 tablets in the 29 geographies where Surface tablets are sold. The Surface Pro 3 offers the power and performance of a traditional laptop, including the ability to run Windows software, on a lightweight and versatile tablet form factor. With Absolute persistence technology embedded into the firmware – once the Absolute software agent is installed and activated – IT can secure corporate devices and the sensitive data they contain.

When Absolute Computrace® and/or Absolute Manage® are installed and activated on the Surface Pro 3, the software will persistently reinstall, even if the device is factory reset. IT administrators can remotely invoke endpoint security and management commands to protect data, support BYOD workflows, and easily manage each device regardless of user or location.

With Absolute alerting capabilities, customers can respond preemptively if a device is deemed to be at risk. Most importantly, organizations can prove that IT compliance processes are properly implemented and enforced.

“We are thrilled to work with Microsoft to offer customers persistent endpoint security and management capabilities on the Surface Pro 3,” said Geoff Haydon, CEO at Absolute Software. “The Surface Pro 3, with Absolute persistence, provides IT with the means to support employee productivity while securing the device and the confidential data it may contain.”

Consumers that purchase the Surface Pro 3 can also choose these enhanced protection options. With firmware persistence, consumer users can leverage Absolute LoJack® to remotely lock, delete, and locate their device and will also have access to the services of the Absolute Investigations team.
