Investing in Security Awareness

By: Absolute Team | 9/9/2011

Often times, security breaches are the result of human error, so we often recommend regular security training and re-training. It's been said before, "most people make mistakes because they don’t know what they are doing is wrong," so investing in people is an investment in security.

As noted by Dominic Vogel on Tech Republic, not investing in security awareness training can undermine your technological investments:

All corporate employees are custodians of the company’s most valued data. They need to be acutely aware of the dangers and threats that can lead to the exposure of data and subsequent data integrity issues. Employees are uniquely positioned in areas where IT defences do not always converge - an area known as the security blind side.

Spending some time and money developing a strong training program that continuously updates employees on the changing security environment, and reminds them of the importance of security awareness, will go a long way in providing extra protection for important data assets.
