Integrating a Secure Endpoint Ecosystem in Local Government

Following a cyberattack on their systems a few years earlier, the city knew that while they had good backup systems in place to restore data, they needed a better solution to support regular patching of their internal systems. Understanding the need for a more secure endpoint protection and vulnerability patching for the IT systems, the city’s IT Director knew they needed a security solution that would create an ecosystem to patch endpoints consistently.

Simplified Patching and Remote Support

The local government has used the Absolute Security solution to maintain regular patching of their endpoint devices in its environment to increase critical infrastructure security. Once the IT team at the city onboarded and deployed the Absolute Security solution, they have been able to maintain regular reports and patching. For a small team within the IT department, the city has been able to keep its environment, data, and machines safe from being extorted or hijacked. The solution’s user-friendly interface has also streamlined the team to provide more remote support capabilities for users and devices that may be off premises.  

Protecting the Cyber Ecosystem from Vulnerabilities

The city’s department is responsible for digital infrastructure for most of the municipality's locations, including the city hall for citizens and public safety offices. The IT team handles approximately 100 endpoints, which include deskless workers. This means that the team handles all the digital operations for the city, from citizen service to police and public safety communications. Being able to create a cyber ecosystem that automates the monitoring and patching of vulnerabilities is necessary to effectively support the other digital needs of the city.  

When previous solutions failed to support the city’s internal SQL databases' need for vulnerability patching effectively, the city’s IT Director sought a solution that supported consistent patching for their unique needs. The Absolute Security team understood the unique needs that the city had and built a specific patch database to support their endpoints more successfully.

Integrating Infrastructure Support Remotely  

Once onboarded, the IT team at the city was able to schedule automated server and endpoint patch management functions for their environments with ease. The Absolute Security solution has allowed the team to allocate their initiatives to other IT needs for the digital infrastructure of the city. Integrating the Absolute Security solution into their digital environment has also allowed the team to reconfigure servers that were using inadequate group policies to increase system security.
