We recently put together a new Case Study highlighting how the Roma Mitchell Secondary College chose Absolute Manage for Mobile Devices to simplify iPad management by automating app distribution, ultimately saving time and money.
Roma Mitchell Secondary College is a secondary school in Adelaide, South Australia, composed of 3 separate campuses for grades 8-12. The school has 1200 students, including 80 in the Special Education Campus. The IT team wanted to introduce iPads to the Special Education Campus, where they would be a great choice for many students: light, easy to use, low cost of apps, apps that can assist with communication, therapy (motor, touch, speech/language development), life skills, education, motivation and self-esteem.
When the iPad program was being considered, IT wanted a solution that would allow for bulk app purchases and distribution as well as ease of updates, without the need to gather up iPads for manual updates.
"We wanted to roll them out in a controlled manner, get the correct apps to the correct people, and with enough control that we could change what was on the iPads easily without having to manually reconfigure once the devices were dispersed. We have 10 classrooms in our Special Education campus, so the devices are spread out. And each child has different needs." - Nathan Wieland, IT Manager
Roma Mitchell Secondary College reviewed several options and chose Absolute Manage for Mobile Devices, making it possible to deploy an app to a specific iPad, each identified by student, within minutes of its being requested.
