The Enterprise Device Alliance (EDA), of which Absolute Software is a part, recently shared some more results from the 3rd Annual Survey of IT Pros on Managing Mobile Devices conducted in the fourth quarter of 2013. The results show that enterprise IT departments are attempting to increase control over the increased number of mobile devices now in the organization.

Some insights from the study include:

  • More than 25% of the organizations are implementing or piloting COPE policies to deploy and manage their mobile devices. 41% have no COPE plans.
  • 60% of organizations now use MDM to administer mobile devices (up from 38% in 2012)
  • Enterprise Apps are being created to replace consumer apps and provide additional security. Email is the leading app being installed.
  • The iPhone continues to be the preferred smartphone in corporate environments, and the iPad is the preferred tablet (though we expect Android to grow).

According to the survey, IT’s primary concerns about security on mobile devices relate to devices that are lost or stolen as well as adhering to legal / compliance requirements on data security.

Absolute Manage allows organizations to persistently manage and secure all of their endpoints from a single console, including PC, Mac, iOS, Android, and Windows Phone devices. Absolute Manage can be deployed as a complete asset management solution as well as a stand-alone solution for Mobile Device Management (MDM).
