A new study from 100,000 Ipswitch network administrators reveals what corporations consider the biggest compliance issues. The survey shows that the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) is the most challenging information security regulation for businesses to implement.
The survey found that, when asked what was the most challenging compliance regulation from an IT standpoint, 38% of network administrators indicated HIPAA. After HIPAA, the most challenging regulation indicated was Sarbanes-Oxley. FISMA and other regulations had much lower percentages of votes.
"Regulations are updated regularly, as are the hackers’ and thieves’ methods of exploiting them. Staying up-to-date and within compliance is no easy task." - Ennio Carboni, president of Ipswitch Inc.’s Network Management Division
