The FTC has issued its consumer privacy report, "Protecting Consumer Privacy in an Era of Rapid Change: A Proposed Framework for Businesses and Policymakers." The proposed framework would apply to online and offline businesses that collect, maintain, share or use consumer data.
The framework proposes 3 main approaches to enhance consumer privacy. They are that:
