Data Privacy Day 2013

By: Absolute Team | 1/28/2013

January 28th is Data Privacy Day, a day that encourages everyone – businesses, individuals, governments, teachers, students – to look at how technologies affect our lives and how we can better protect personal information. Data Privacy Day is organized for January 28th every year in the United States, Canada, and 27 European countries. In the US and Canada it is organized by the National Cyber Security Alliance, whose website provides a wealth of information for businesses on protecting personal information.

On this Data Privacy Day, we encourage you to follow the DPD challenge:

  • Do you automatically update software, browsers and operating systems?
  • Do you know your company is only as secure as your least reliable employee allows it to be?
  • Does your company have an online privacy policy?
  • Are your employees trained to maintain company privacy standards?
  • Do you remind your employees to make their passwords long, strong and unique?
  • Do you show your commitment to privacy?

The National Cyber Security Alliance provides some tips on privacy tips for businesses and encourages you to get involved any way you can.

Many privacy concerns can be alleviated with services and solutions that don't rely on employees. As a point of weakness in your company, the more you can do to automate security, the better. Find out how we can help here.
