CASAColumbia Choose Absolute for HIPAA Compliance

By: Absolute Editorial Team | 7/2/2014

CASAColumbia, The National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse at Columbia University, is a science-based, multidisciplinary, not-for-profit organization focused on prevention, treatment, and elimination of substance disease in all sectors of society. Their researchers are often among the public doing surveys and gathering information, often in areas that would put devices at risk for theft.

CASAColumbia wanted to ensure they were HIPAA compliant, but also wanted to protect the investment in the devices used in the field.

After doing some research, CASAColumbia chose Absolute to give them the peace of mind knowing missing laptops can be tracked, frozen and wiped clean, with enough information to prove HIPAA-compliance if necessary. CASAColumbia uses geofences to trigger alerts if laptops leave the area, and have made use of device location data to track down missing laptops.

To find out how CASAColumbia uses Absolute to save time, protect assets and safeguard data, check out the case study here.
