Absolute Manage 6.4 Includes iOS7 and OS X Mavericks

By: Absolute Team | 10/23/2013

Apple today announced a slew of new devices including a new 13" and 15" MacBook Pro models, a new Mac Pro, a new iPad Air, and the new iPad Mini 2 with retina display. Along with all the new tech likely to hit the enterprise with the BYOD movement, it looks like software upgrades are in order. Apple also announced that its latest operating system, OS X Mavericks, is out today - and for free.

OS X Mavericks is a nice update from apple, particularly with the integration of iCloud Keychain, a solution which offers employees an easy way to manage passwords (stored, encrypted, automatically entered), which is a huge weak point in most enterprises.

We know that when it comes to the management of devices, organizations want to be able to persistently manage and secure all of their endpoints from a single console. Whether PC, Mac, iOS, Android or Windows Phone devices, Absolute Manage has focused on creating a powerful yet easy-to-use interface to simplify this process. As part of that, we stay on top of the latest OS releases in all areas to ensure that you, too, can easily manage devices with the latest OS releases.

Absolute Manage 6.4, available today, is our latest update featuring full iOS7 support and support for the newly-announced OS X Mavericks.

Absolute Manage 6.4 updates include:

  • OS X Mavericks Support
  • A 64-bit version of the Absolute Manage Server for Windows (32-bit version is also available)
  • iOS 7 Support, including these new features:
    • "Open In" management: restrict the user's ability to open certain files only within designated apps on the device
    • Third party app configuration: Create configuration profiles in the Absolute Manage Profile Editor to deploy settings to app store or enterprise apps that support this functionality
    • Per-App VPN settings: Restrict app connections to your internal networks without locking down the user's entire device
    • MDM support for Apple TV
    • Many more restriction and configuration options for managed iOS devices
