We recently put together a new case study on how Absolute was able to give peace of mind to Syddansk Erhvervsskole, one of Denmark’s largest technology colleges.
Syddansk Erhvervsskole is made up of two schools merged into one. Situated on two sites, 100km apart, with activities spread out over ten locations in Denmark, the college offers 45 programmes under vocational education. With 5,000 students per year and a staff of 900, including teachers, the college struggled to support the use of desktop and laptop computers, essential for many programs.
Computers are an integral part of education at Syddansk Erhvervsskole. The college has 4,000 computers in total. Thefts of computers were on the rise, with 56 laptops stolen during the period of one year. Each theft was costly and time consuming, with up to 20 days for a replacement to be delivered.
Following a recommendation from Dell, Syddansk Erhvervsskole chose Absolute to help quickly recover laptops in the event of theft.
"We first heard about Absolute from Dell. It recommended the software to both aid prevention and recovery,” said Dennis Nellebjerg, system administrator, Syddansk Erhvervsskole.
Persistence technology by Absolute is embedded into the BIOS level of many computers. Absolute enables Syddansk Erhvervsskole to track the location of their whole computer deployment, remotely deleting sensitive laptop that may be on stolen computers, while the Absolute Investigations team works to recover the stolen devices. Syddansk Erhvervsskole actively promotes that all computers are protected by Absolute in a bid to prevent thefts.
