Absolute Software announced the addition of third-party patching capabilities for software applications with the release of Absolute Manage 6.8. The new release of Absolute Manage integrates with an industry-leading patch engine to safeguard customers from application vulnerabilities for Windows and Mac devices.
Using Absolute Manage 6.8, IT administrators can manage OS patches for Mac and Windows devices, along with a wide range of third-party applications in a fully automated system that detects and downloads missing patches. Absolute Manage will remotely deploy patches, following administrator approval, reporting on the status of each patch.
“When software vulnerabilities remain unpatched, you’re leaving the door open for grave security risks to enter the enterprise,” said Peter Frankl, VP & GM, client management solutions, at Absolute Software. “By integrating an automated engine within Absolute Manage, IT can efficiently and proactively manage and fill these identified security gaps, reducing a broad range of security threats.”
If you follow the news, you’ll see headlines about how “outdated software” led to this breach and how “unpatched software” led to that breach. Gartner estimates that 90% of cyber attacks exploit known security flaws for which remediation is available. There were nearly 8,000 reported vulnerabilities in 2014 - did your organization update them all as soon as possible? Were all devices accounted for? With Absolute Manage 6.8, the automation of patch updates and deployment will help protect corporate data from unnecessarily remaining at risk.
Absolute Software is positioned on two Gartner, Inc. Magic Quadrants - the Magic Quadrant for Client Management Tools and the Magic Quadrant for Mobile Device Management Software. Absolute is one of only four vendors to be recognized on both Magic Quadrants based on providing customers with the ability to secure and manage many different types of devices using a single solution.
