Absolute Extends Coverage to Android Tablets

By: Absolute Team | 1/10/2012

Absolute Software is pleased to announce that our platform coverage continues to expand! Today we announced that our theft recovery service is now available for Android tablets.

“With the inevitable expansion of consumerization or the “bring your own device” (BYOD) movement, many organizations are exposed to new security and manageability challenges as organizations allow for these new platforms and form factors to operate within their network. Our customers have looked to us to help them maintain their enterprise-grade support requirements in the face of these new challenges.

With our patented persistence technology, organizations using Android tablets will now benefit from having a constant connection to the devices and, if the device is reported stolen, organizations can now reliably take action to mitigate the security risk of a potential data breach, recover lost or stolen devices, and make their overall environment more secure.” - John Livingston, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer at Absolute Software.

Theft recovery is the latest feature we've been able to extend to existing Computrace Mobile features for Android tablets. Now, if an Android tablet with embedded Computrace persistence technology is reported stolen, the Absolute Theft Recovery team can use digital forensics to gather evidence and, working closely with local police, help solve the crime and recover the device. Also available for Android users are our award-winning security and management solutions including device freeze, data delete and geotechnology.
