Hundreds of thousands of notebook computers are reported stolen each year - what would you lose?

With Computrace®, IT professionals can recover lost or stolen PCs, securely track hardware and software inventory campus-wide, and generate asset reports to plan for upgrades, migrations and machine retirement.

Use Computrace to:

  • Track & recover stolen computers with a secure BIOS-based agent
  • Secure mobile laptops and make one-to-one computer programs a success
  • Plan for upcoming IT requirements, new roll-outs and upgrades
  • Protect your investment with a Recovery Guarantee of up to $1000* if a missing computer is not recovered within 60 days of theft
  • Detect changes in hardware, including missing computer memory or drives
  • Assist with regulatory compliance for state technology rebates, California Senate Bill 1386, HIPAA and other federal or regional initiatives
  • Delete data remotely on stolen or end-of-life computers to keep sensitive data from falling into the wrong hands (particularly useful for administrator’s files)

Campus IT professionals can now easily and accurately track up to 100% of their computers. Track where they are, who is using them and what is on them - all from a single point of control.

Computrace reduces the TCO of an institution’s computer program by recovering lost or stolen computers, deterring future thefts by identifying thieves, and improving inventory control and helpdesk information.

Computrace has been an essential tool in our efforts to manage laptops. Recovering laptops is more than just saving time and money; we are providing a service to the students because we are often able to recover their valuable data.
— Phoebe Butlin, Academic Technology Manager, Bryant University

Computrace Helps Campus Police Solve Biggest Equipment Theft Ever at College
A computer room at a Midwest university was broken into twice in two months, resulting in the theft of numerous laptop computers, tablets, monitors and camera equipment. Because Computrace had been installed on some of the stolen computers, Absolute Software was able to supply the University Police Department with critical information, leading to the recovery of over $40,000 worth of stolen goods, making it the "the biggest equipment bust in the history of the campus police department", according to the detective involved.

What our customers are saying

We have over 2200 laptops in the hands of high school students at Daviess County Public Schools in Owensboro, KY and every computer has Computrace installed. Our district policy is to allow users to be administrators of their own machines, so they can install software and troubleshoot problems. But we are on a constant vigil for proxy anonymizers and file sharing software. The Computrace "Installed Software" report makes it very easy to police violations. Every morning, the report informs us of the students that have installed banned software overnight and those students are called to the office and disciplined.

– Susan Smith,
Daviess County Public Schools
