Computrace Technology

The Computrace® Agent by Absolute® Software is a small software client that is embedded into the BIOS firmware of a computer at the factory.  Or you can easily install it onto the hard drive of a computer.

The Agent in your computer maintains daily contact with the Absolute Monitoring Center so you can manage your IT assets on or off your company network - knowing where they are, who's using them, and what types of software and other applications reside on them.

 

Consider Computrace solutions by Absolute Software your built-in Theftguard^TM. If you report a stolen computer, Agent contact with the Monitoring Center will increase to every 15 minutes.  Increased contact allows us to obtain specific details like the physical location of your computer, any activity that has occurred post-theft, and other important information that will aid us in working with local police agencies to catch the thief and return your property to you. Our Theft Recovery Team can then act as your managed recovery service Laptop Retriever®

Our Data and Device Security features allow you to protect the devices in your deployment and the data that resides on them.  You can remotely delete data to remove some or all of the information stored on a device so that it doesn't fall into the wrong hands allowing you to comply with government and corporate regulations.  The audit reports generated after a data delete provide you with proof of your compliance.  Use the Device Freeze feature to freeze a computer.  Once frozen, you can display a custom message to the user encouraging them to comply with specific requests for action (return for servicing, validate user identity, etc.).

Geotechnology features allow you to use GPS or Wi-Fi technology to track your assets on an internet map.  You will be able to see current and historical locations within about 33 feet.  Computrace products with Geofencing allow you to build pre-defined areas (geofences) and apply rules with alerts if a condition occurs - for instance if a device remains outside of a boundary beyond a set measure of time.  If the physical location of a device contravenes the rule, you will be alerted so you can investigate and determine if further action is required.
