Intel Anti-Theft Technology

Absolute customers can leverage the combined power of Absolute Computrace and Intel Anti-Theft (AT) technologies for all devices in their Computrace deployment that have the Intel technology designed into the system hardware.

The combined technologies provide Absolute customers with an enhanced level of protection even when the computer hard disk is encrypted, the PC is off, or the operating system is down. A locked device can be easily unlocked once the safety of the computer is established. If your computers are Intel Anti-Theft enabled and you’ve activated our Computrace Agent, your computers are now protected with the most reliable and tamper-resistant combination of technologies available today.

With Intel Anti-Theft, Absolute customers can:

  • Disable a notebook that doesn’t call into the Absolute Monitoring Center within a pre-defined period of time.
  • Send a poison pill to lock down a device and prevent the OS from booting.
  • Trigger an Intel Anti-Theft lock using real-time technology within the Absolute Customer Center, sending an SMS message to the computer and invoking the Intel Anti-Theft lock almost immediately. To take advantage of this SMS-only immediate lock functionality, you will require Intel Anti-Theft supported hardware (Intel Core i3, i5, or i7 notebooks).

Supported Devices

Intel Anti-Theft provides tamper-resistant hardware based technology so that Absolute customers can rapidly respond to a device that may be a risk—with or without a network or internet connection.

NOTE: Due to a recent update by Intel, the chipset architecture used to preload Computrace technology onto a device has changed from AT 4.0 to AT 5.0. While we perform the necessary testing, some new-to-market ultrabook devices with the new AT 5.0 chipset may not initially activate Intel AT capabilities. Check with your ultrabook manufacturer to confirm the Intel AT architecture of the chipset in any new devices. Testing should be complete by July 2013. At that time, any eligible devices will be automatically enrolled.
